Web site accessiblity and usability

making your web site work for everyone

Usability is about making sure that your site is easy to use and intutivie, so your visitors find what they are looking for and can complete actions easily and quickly.

Accessibility is about making sure your web site is easy for everyone to use, for example people who are physically disabled and have difficulty using a mouse and keyboard or people who are blind or visually impaired, and also for everyone regardless of the web browser, type of computer, size of monitor, or security settings on their PC.

Doing this helps you keep your customerson your site, maximises sales, and encourages repeat business. For many sites, the effect can be improvements in leads or sales of more than half.

Accessibility is also a legal requirement, being covered by the Disability Discrimination Act 1998. However, the best reason for having an accessible, easy to use web site is not fear of prosecution, but the opportunity to transform your online business and your users' experience.
